Crystal Lawrence

Born in Utah, Crystal came to Lander Wyoming when she was a senior in high school. The influence of the beautifully colored landscapes of Wyoming influence her love and use of color. Travel is a very important source for photographs and batiks. She has traveled extensively in the United States and Canada. Other travels include England , Mexico, Thailand, Laos, China and Chile, where she is presently in the process of extending her studio, "The Running Cat", which includes her photography, fine art photo cards, batiks as fine art and a self published book; The Nest, a Journal of Seasons, which is a photo-essay journal of Sinks Canyon State Park, Wyoming. Holding a BA in elementry and special education, and a Master of Science Teaching from the University of Wyoming, Crystal has taken classes at Sievers School of Fiber Arts in Batik and silk painting. At the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops she studied under several National Geographic photographers. Her teaching certificate includes an art endorsement.

Vedauwoo Winter...Vedauwoo is between Cheyenne and Laramie on I80 in Wyoming.

Vedauwoo Summer...The unusual formation of the Vedauwoo rocks make the area a popular climbing destination.

Vedauwoo Morning...Vedauwoo is pronounced Vee-Da-Voo.

Vedauwoo Moon...Vedauwoo has been a sacred place for many of the Plains Indian Tribes-- Arapaho, Cheyenne, Ute Crow and Souix.

Vedauwoo Mist...The indians believed that the various features of Vedauwoo were created by many Spirits of the Indians beliefs when they were in a playful mood.

Vedauwoo Winter...The name Vedauwoo was selected by the Drama Department of the University of Wyoming whose students performed among the rocks, beaver ponds and trees during the 1920's. It has been accepted as the official name for the area by the US Forest Service.

Vedauwoo Dusk...Vedauwoo is the Arapaho Indian word for 'Earth Born".
