Long nature walks with my mother and encouragement for my art ability as a child formed a foundation for my art pursuits today. My life has since been interspersed with workshops, private classes, high school and university art classes. I've been able to combine my experience with by basic need to be outside- to experience the endless variety of sights, smells and colors and light through nature painting and sketching outside. I find beginning a new sketch or painting challenging and exhilarating- it makes my heart sing at times, and gives me a greater feeling of being connected to the earth. Often I find allegories to my life in my painted landscapes. In 1988, as a Colorado resident, I began winning prizes for my pastels and oils. In 1997 as a Wyoming resident, I was honored to win first prize in pastels at the Wyoming Artists' Convention and to have a picture selected among Wyoming's best to hang in Senator Enzi's office in Washington D.C.. My studio, "Paintings That Sing" is along a trout stream outside of Centennial, Wyoming.
