Joy Keown
|
An award winning watercolor artist, Nature takes on a classic touch with artist Joy Keown. Joy's work can be seen on several wildlife stamps; a whitetail deer on the 2006 Massachusetts Archery and Firearms stamp, nene gracing the 2004 - 2005 Hawaii conservation stamp and 2004 game bird stamp for Hawaii, a cardinal adorning the Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania collectable patch, or her snow geese painting featured on the November page of the 2006 west Virginia wildlife calendar. Joy grew up on a farm in Missouri, and quickly formed a love for the land and its creatures. Although she enjoyed drawing, Joy persued a career in biology instead of art, but now combines these interests to share her love for the natural world through her watercolor and arylic paintings. Joy moved to Wyoming in the early seventies and taught biology and physiology at Torrington High School for 14 years, and worked as a park ranger naturalist for 10 summers at Yellowstone National Park. | ||
