| Some of the finest, if not extraordinary, landscapes done by a Wyoming artist are painted by
Mark McNierney. Mark has a captivating style, luring you into each work of art; the peaks of the
Teton Mountains stand taller, Lake Marie in the Snowy Range sparkles with clarity, all from
this native of our hometown, Laramie.
Mark has been painting for over 35 years, and is fondly remembered as the artist in the Old
Tipple Restaurant in Laramie, where he did woodcarving, etched and stained glass of the interior, and
displayed his Oils, Pastels and Watercolors. An artist since the age of 6, Mark won his first
award, a blue ribbon in the seventh grade. He went on to win several awards in high school,
including the Wyoming Sweepstakes award twice. Mark attended the college in California, and lived
in Texas for 12 years (painting and winning many awards) before coming back home to Laramie.
Mark has done several commissions for portraits, spending countless hours on getting details
and items of importance correct, all before he even picks up a paintbrush. The final painting
is a perfect likeness, surrounded with the items, knickknacks and representations that make each
subject unique. Mark has an eye for perfection in his paintings of still life, rodeo, ballet, or
images of everyday life.
Mark's painting is an obsession, he won't stay away form his work for long, even spending long 10
hour sessions on his art work each day. The result is a nothing short of a masterpiece for today's
decor, a stunning rendering captured for everyone to enjoy. |
